The first Persian Carpets were woven by hand almost 2,500 years ago. They were Magnificent - and often as fragile as they were beautiful. Then in 1928, Karastan became the first to introduce a custom loom designed to weave through the back, capturing utterly the richness and complexity of a hand-knotted Oriental rug. To reflect not just the intricacy of design, but the subtle nuances of color, gentled with age. Using only the finest materials, including ultra soft worsted New Zealand wool, each tug in out Antique Legends collection relies on the expertise of dozens of craftspeople to create inch by inch both timelessness and beauty. As a final touch, the rugs are enhanced with Karastan's Luster - wash as well as special 'antique' wash to harmonize the colors with a rich 'vintage' patina.
